Our Story

Sport for Youth Project is a Registered Non-Profit Company that was founded in St Francis Bay in 2019 by Matt Davis and Masixole Qekema. This is a community upliftment project that provides a safe environment for the youth of Sea Vista Township and surrounding communities.

Our main focus at the moment is football. 

Our journey began in August 2019 when we took up the privileged role of coaching a group of ​10 aspiring young footballers.

Little did we know that this humble initiative would blossom into something truly remarkable.

With each passing day, our passion ignited a spark within the hearts of many, and today, we proudly stand as mentors to over 100 enthusiastic kids.

What started as a small endeavor has now evolved into a thriving program, thanks to the unwavering dedication and support we have received from our community. Local businesses have rallied behind us, recognizing the importance of nurturing the potential of our youth. Their contributions have allowed us to expand our horizons andprovide even better opportunities for our aspiring athletes.

At present, our program boasts five skilled coaches who tirelessly work to cultivate talent and foster a spirit of discipline and determination. We have diligently formed four teams, catering to various age groups and skill levels. Our U/13, U/15, U/17, and Senior teams represent the culmination of our efforts and the dreams of our young athletes.

This year marks a significant milestone for us as we proudly announce the registration of all our teams to compete in local leagues and tournaments. It is a testament to the progress we have made together and the confidence we have in the abilities of our talented athletes.

​As they step onto the playing field, we are filled with anticipation and pride, knowing that our collective dedication has brought them to this moment. The journey continues, fueled by the belief that discipline, guidance, and a supportive community are the pillars that shape the future of our youth. Together, we strive to empower these young athletes, teaching them the values of perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship that will extend far beyond the boundaries of the game.

As we look back on how far we have come, we are inspired to keep pushing forward, making a lasting impact on the lives of these aspiring athletes.

Our program stands as a testament to the power of a shared vision, the strength of unity, and the transformative nature of discipline.

VISION

Through Football training we want to create opportunities for talented players, produce role models and leaders in our community. As a football team we also strive for success on and off the field.

 MISSION 

Our aim is to create a safe environment where we can inspire and create opportunities for enjoyment of play, advancing gifted players and training of sport management skills for coaches. Keep the youth off the streets teaching them discipline, respect and life skills through sport.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT 

​As previous football players in the community, we realised that there is a need for a sporting program to benefit the kids of St Francis Bay – to keep them active and away from all the social problems on the streets.

    Volunteer to help assist with our environmental awareness program and life skills program. Both Run every Thursday 3-4pm

Why do I like coaching football? - It’s given me a chance to give back to the young ones. Takes the younger generation away from drugs and substance abuse (provide life skills). Also gives me an opportunity to give back to the community. Overall its part of me ..that's the only work I can do!"

KOUGA LFA CHAMPIONS

2023

We couldn’t be prouder of our talented players and their remarkable achievements!

Our team emerged as the champions of the U15 division at the prestigious Kouga Youth Tournament held in Jeffreys Bay.

They displayed incredible skill, determination, and teamwork to claim theIR well-deserved title.

We also want to acknowledge the outstanding performance of one of our U15 boys, Khanyisa “Neymar” Mofu  who emerged as the top goal scorer in the U15 league.

His impressive tally of 16 goals exemplifies his exceptional skills and dedication on the field. Well done young man!

Neymar, we are very proud of you!

The club was able to raise R55k for khanyisa to go Denmark to take part in the Dana Cup which is a huge youth tournament. He represented a academy team called Keep Active Development from Port Elizabeth

U/15 YOUTH AGAINST CRIME 2023

2nd Place

Another notable accomplishment was our team’s second-place finish at the Youth against Crime Tournament in Humansdorp.

Our players showcased their resilience, talent, and sportsmanship, leaving a lasting impression on the tournament.

In the Kouga U13 league, our players secured an impressive first place, demonstrating their consistency and competitive spirit throughout the season.
